F1RST NIGHT rouses Panther Nation

That was the message to thousands of students who gathered Monday evening in the stands at Pitbull Stadium.

In a show of support, seemingly all of FIU came out to wish both incoming and returning Panthers a great school year.

“Everything we do begins with you,” said President Jeanette M. Nuñez as she looked out into the assembled crowd, which also included the parents of those newly enrolled at FIU. “We prioritize you, and we’ll focus on you each and every day.”

The welcome ceremony, which included presentation of the university’s Torch of Knowledge, led into an engagement fair that featured the clubs and Greek organizations students can join and concluded with a concert and fireworks display.
