The first January of the new decade. It's a significant landmark for a university that is looking Worlds Ahead. This month, we welcomed a slew of international experts to campus to discuss the state of the world. We also simply enjoyed the fantastic Miami weather. Here are a few of our favorite moments from January, as captured by Margi Rentis and Doug Garland.

Holocaust survivor Julian Eisenstein participates in the lighting of remembrance candles to mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp, part of FIU’s Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week. The 100-year-old shared stories of the horrors he witnessed as well as the resilience with which he built a successful life in the United States.
