Kenneth Hall has joined FIU as senior vice president of university advancement and chief executive officer of the FIU Foundation.

Hall brings over 20 years of experience in higher education to the university and comes to FIU from The Pennsylvania State University where he most recently served as their assistant vice president for development.

Prior to his role as assistant vice president for development at Penn State, he served as executive director of development for the university. While at Penn State, Hall also was a visiting lecturer at Middlebury College Institute for International Studies at Monterey in Monterey, California. During his tenure at Penn State, Hall served on the Campaign Strategic Priorities Task Force to help design the successful $2.2 billion A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence campaign. During the campaign, Hall guided units under his leadership in raising more than $650 million, surpassing their goal of $580 million.

Additionally, Hall has held various development-related positions at universities in Pennsylvania, serving as director of major and planned gifts at Susquehanna University from 2001-2006, as director of development at Messiah University from 2006-2007 and director of principal gifts at Bucknell University from 2007-2015.

“I am very excited to start working with the entire FIU community to continue to build on the accomplishments of this innovative ecosystem. FIU stands out as unique among universities, and I can’t wait to see what great strides we will make together,” Hall said.

Hall comes to FIU at a significant time in the university’s history, as it recently finished a major fundraising campaign and is garnering considerable recognition for the quality of its programs and the noteworthy return on investment its graduates can expect, including a ranking from The Wall Street Journal as the No. 4 best public university in the nation.

“I look forward to working with Ken as he builds upon the achievements of our Next Horizon campaign, which concluded this summer having exceeded its $750 million goal,” said Florida International University President Kenneth A. Jessell.

Prior to his positions in higher education, Hall worked as an estate and charitable planner for MassMutual, owned a start-up export management business, and worked as an international trade consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

As a member of the FIU Executive Leadership Team, Hall will work closely with university and Foundation leadership to set priorities and strategies for university-wide development and alumni engagement consistent with the university’s strategic plans.
